Slow on a phone
Four seconds to load and most of the visit is gone before your name appears
Hand-coded websites
Dunnworks designs, builds and rebuilds websites for small businesses. Every site is written by hand, loads in under a second, and stays yours. No page builder, no monthly licence, no lock-in.

These are this business’s own figures, not a sample. The build time and reply time are what I hold myself to; the fee is what the hosting actually costs on the tiers a small site needs, which is nothing. What a site costs to run.
The problem
A site built on a drag-and-drop platform in 2019 is still charging a licence fee, still loading slowly on a phone, and still sending enquiries to an inbox nobody checks. It is a leaflet on a shelf. A working site does a job every week.
None of these are design problems. They are the six things that decide whether a small business site earns back what it costs, and they are worth checking on the site you have now.
Four seconds to load and most of the visit is gone before your name appears
No page per service and no local terms, so it never shows for the work you want
A form that quietly fails, or lands in a platform inbox nobody logs into
Stop paying and the site goes with it, design, content and all
A licence fee every month whether the site brought in work or not
A support queue and a help centre, instead of the person who built it
What I do
Pick the row that sounds like you. Every one of them ends with a site you own outright.
Selected work
A consultancy, a drone survey business, a kitchen fitter and a golf society. Same approach, different problems.

A four page platform site rebuilt as a five page site for an engine consultancy, live on 3 September 2026.

A launch site for drone roof surveys in Hampshire and Surrey, with prices published up front.

Kitchen and bathroom fitters in Farnborough. Gallery, testimonials and enquiries run from a database.

Fixtures, draws, results and payments, with a committee admin area behind the public pages.
How it works
Everything else is mine. The two that need you take about half an hour between them.
Twenty minutes on what the business does, who you want to hear from, and what the site has to achieve.
The pages, the wording plan and the cost, in writing. One price, no hourly billing, no surprises.
You see the real site on a private link within a week and say what to change. Two rounds are included.
Domain, email and search records moved with no downtime. You get the files, the logins and a walkthrough.
Prices
Every price below is a starting point for a straightforward site. Anything unusual gets quoted after the call.
For getting online this week, using words and photos you already have.
For a new business that wants the page written and designed properly.
Five pages, one for each thing you want to be found for.
You have a site already. It is slow, dated or costing too much.
Every build includes 3 months on the Care plan. After that it is £45 a month for hosting, backups, monitoring and small changes, unless you say stop. Plans for sites with a booking system or an admin area are £195 and £450. See what each one covers.
Why hand-coded
Page builders are quick to start and expensive to live with. Here is the difference over 3 years.
| Typical page builder | Dunnworks | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly platform fee | £17 to £45 | None for the site itself (running costs) |
| Who owns the files | The platform | You do |
| Page weight | 2 to 5 MB | Under 400 KB |
| Moving host later | Rebuild from scratch | Copy the folder |
| Adding a booking form or admin screen | Paid app, monthly | Built in, no fee |
| Who answers when it breaks | A support queue | Tony, same day |
Where I work
Based in Bordon, so Whitehill, Lindford and Headley are on the doorstep and everywhere out to Farnborough is a drive rather than a video call. The rest of the UK works by phone and email. Distances are straight-line from the centre of Bordon.
Everywhere else in the UK works by phone and email, which is how most of the work runs anyway.
Questions
Next step
A free 20 minute call, a written quote, and a straight answer on whether a new site would make any difference to the business. If it would not, I will say so.
Only your name, email and a few lines are needed. The rest helps me quote properly.
